How We Build Outdoor Kitchens
We offer two construction methods. One we recommend strongly, one we’ll build if you specifically request it.
Starboard method (what we recommend)
We build using Starboard – a marine-grade polymer material designed for boats, which means it’s built to handle constant exposure to water and weather. This material doesn’t bleach in the sun, won’t warp from humidity, resists salt air damage, and survives hurricanes.
Every piece of hardware – hinges, drawer runners, all of it – is stainless steel. No rust, no corrosion, no parts that seize up after a few years in Florida weather.
Traditional method (available upon request)
The old way uses wood frames with cement board and tile overlay. It works, but doesn’t hold up as well long-term in Florida’s climate. We rarely recommend this approach anymore after seeing how quickly these kitchens weather compared to Starboard builds.
